This page exists, hopefully, to motivate me to digitise my collection of DJ tapes collected around the traps in Sydney between 1993 and 1999, and also to serve as a sharing point for friends and strangers alike who were part of those heady days.
The focus is on music that was big for me in the 90's. Earlier tapes will predominantly feature rave, hardcore and happy hardcore, morphing later into house, techno, trance and a little trip hop. Well, that's the plan. We'll see how we go, eh?
woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteI have some really old Phil Smart tapes, would love to upload them but no longer own a tape deck. Whats the best way? Are there stores that convert the music on to a digital format?
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHey middle-anonymous
ReplyDeleteI don't really know of stores that will convert for you. First and foremost check online. Tonnes of stuff has been ripped before and is probably already lurking on the Oldskool forums on Inthemix or the Oldskool facebook group.
For the archive, I'm working on ripping things that, as far as I know, aren't already online.
If you can't find the tapes online already, let me know in the comments what you've got and I'll see what I can do to help!
I have,
